Back in the early days of the National - C.F.V.A. - the  Librarian - Wallis Randall - had the foresight to recognise that the IT revolution could be used to further the aspirations of its founder, the late Gordon Stevens. DSM.

With the use of “Google Maps” we now move a little further along that road. We are hoping to identify the location of all RN Coastal Forces Bases, beginning with Bases located within the UK and the Mediterranean War Theatre.

The challenge is to identify and locate all known RN-CF bases, including the Base Ships used in RN-CF operations - world wide.

We hope to include in the Mediterranean map area further information as it comes known and later, using a Data Base facility currently under construction, give the position of known RN-CF craft losses and identify the location of known RN-CF wrecks.

To assist our viewers who are not familiar with the use of “Google Maps” - once the new page is opened, the ‘clicking’ on the Pins (or a Base from the List on the right) will open ‘panels’ giving some brief details relating to the Base.

Our new feature also allows for a ‘Quick Zoom’. This, or by using the ‘Slide Bar’ on the left, will allow a close up of the area while a further feature can alter the ‘view’ (by using the Buttons - top right), from - Map - Terrain or Satellite
 
 The ‘Map’ view gives a road map of the area while the ‘Satellite’ button generates an image which, when using the ‘quick zoom’ facility or Slide Bar, will give a fairly recent photographic view from above,  You can enter by ‘clicking’ the ‘Google Maps’ titles
